Melling Select SB Ford 351 Windsor Oil Pump - (Race Ported)
This improved performance line of Melling oil pumps has a larger inlet hole and hardened steel gears. The gears are longer to supply additional oil flow for wider bearing clearances. The driveshaft and idler shaft have been extended into the bottom cover to provide extra support and eliminate any potential shaft deflection.
All internal passages have casting flash removed, corners radiused, polished and blended by hand. Housings and gears are vibratory polished to reduce wear and cavitation.
The pump gears are prepared and sprayed with moly-based coating to reduce friction and loss of flow. All critical clearances are checked on reassembly. The pressure relief valve is deburred insure smooth operation, cleaned and re-installed with the existing spring and new hardware. The pressure relief spring plug is threaded for easy replacement. Now high pressure bypass spring is included
Each cover plate is vibratory deburred, cleaned and fastened to main housing with safety-wired aircraft bolts. This race pump features a 460 style center gear and cover plate which provides support at both ends of the gear for extra strength for high RPM applications. Pump is bench tested.
